A feisty TV journalist is forced to ask her estranged family for help when the hot new boss assigns her to investigate midwives.
Cecilia Wagner has worked hard to establish her clout as a network journalist. But, her wisecracks to Alan, the new boss, are rewarded with an assignment she’s sure to hate – the war between doctors and midwives. Growing up she was surrounded by granola munching tree huggers and she’s spent her adult life putting it behind her.
Now – well, she can almost smell the compost.
Cecilia finds the big business behind the birthing industry and gets fired up, making her irresistible to Alan. But, her investigation fires up some powerful doctors and politicos. When the network warns her to back off, she fuels the fire instead. In the end, Cecilia embraces her true calling – and gets the surprise of a lifetime.
Ancestral is a finalist in the LA Femme Film Festival and the Moondance International Film Festival and a Silver Screenwriting top 20 semi-finalist.

Her perfect life is thrown into chaos when her new boss bombards her with sexual advances and won’t take no for an answer. His relentless pursuit triggers a near fatal car accident, and as things go from bad to worse, she teeters on the edge of reality. Meetings become tea parties, the company golf outing becomes a croquette game with flamingos and hedgehogs. At her wits end she seeks guidance from her therapist, a hookah smoking Caterpillar. It’s like Working Girl meets Big Fish in Wonderland.
